NYT Magazine Article: Extra Helping
Great article in the NYT Magazine this week on Kiva.org.Donor engagement simply means something different today than it did 10, 20 or 50 years ago.
Here's my thinking... the feeling you get when loaning someone the money they need to build their business is quite different than the feeling you get from a making a traditional donation.
Old way is charity and a handout and is passive. There is nothing inherently wrong with the old way other than perhaps there is something better about the new way...
New way is about creating self-efficacy and accountability and being an active partner in helping make the world a better place.
